Quiet Days

I always find January and February quiet and reflective months.  My birthday is in January and so as the years go by, it makes me think of times gone by, and what is really important to me for the forthcoming year.  These two months are normally fairly empty of events and dates so we’ve made the most of low tides, empty beaches and  the mild days of this winter (so far!).  It’s been a time of cycle rides along the prom, long dog walks exploring parts of the county we aren’t very familiar with, some sewing and cosy evenings knitting. It’s been a slow quiet  start to the year here but I do enjoy these days of making the most of daylight and then coming home to welcoming lights and warmth, and cosy nights in.

I’ve got so many ideas about what I want to make over the next few months.  As our lifestyle has changed, I’ve realised my wardrobe needs to as well.  I want more clothes made from jersey as its all about comfort, flexibility and layers for me.  I think I’ve got to grip with my serger, so Im planning more makes.  At the moment I’m fixated on Tilly and the Buttons Nora top.  I’ve made one in a blue, black, cream ponte de roma fabric and its ideal for dog walks and cycle rides.  I want to make more   in fleece and jersey as it is such an easy pattern for a useful comfy top.  I’m also going to search out some high viz fabric to make some in different weights for our bike rides.

I think that this year, I’ll focus on more sewing that is functional useful,  pretty and simple along with learning to crochet!
